Bereavement Guidance
We Are Here to Help
Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un
Surely we belong to Allah, and to Him we return
We are deeply sorry for your loss. The Society is not yet registered, so it cannot take a bereavement report or provide assistance at this stage. This page sets out what a family needs to do in the first days, and how the Society will help once it is operating. The numbers below are answered for information.
Both lines are bereavement lines, and both take WhatsApp messages: 07789 914229 (WhatsApp) and 07903 087256 (WhatsApp). Please try either.
Availability: Monday to Sunday, 8am to 9pm. Outside those hours, please send a WhatsApp message or an email and it will be picked up as soon as possible. Registered office: 4 Empress Avenue, Chingford, Waltham Forest, London, E4 8SR.
If the matter is urgent and you cannot reach the Society immediately, contact your chosen funeral director, mosque or local burial service. Islamic burials are normally arranged promptly, and the family remains responsible for making the necessary funeral arrangements. Please do not delay them while you wait for a funding decision.
Online Notification Not Open Yet
The Society Cannot Take a Report Until It Is Registered
Once registration is complete, this is where a family will notify the Society online, and the Society will contact them to guide them through the assistance process. Until then, please do not wait on the Society: contact your funeral director or mosque and make the arrangements your family needs.
The checklists below are here to help now, and the Society can be reached on the numbers above for information.

Immediate Steps
The First Day
Work through these in whatever order suits your family. Ticking them is only for your own benefit; nothing here is sent to the Society.
What to Have Ready
Beyond the death certificate, it helps to have identity documents, proof of your relationship to the deceased, and any funeral-provider invoices or estimates to hand when you contact us. The full list is on the Funeral Assistance page.
Use your browser's print option to save or print this page to take with you.
What Happens Next?
- Your notification is recorded confidentially.
- Membership and dependant status are checked.
- The contribution record is verified.
- Supporting documents are reviewed.
- The claim is considered by authorised decision-makers.
- The family receives a written or recorded decision.
- Approved assistance is released to the appropriate recipient or provider.
Our Service Standard
The Society will treat every family with compassion, dignity and confidentiality. We will aim to assess the application promptly once all satisfactory evidence has been received and will keep the family informed of material delays.
If Information Is Missing
A missing document does not automatically end an application. The Society will explain what is needed and allow a reasonable opportunity to provide it. Assistance cannot be approved until eligibility has been satisfactorily verified.
If You Disagree with a Decision
- Request a written explanation.
- Submit a written appeal within the permitted period.
- Provide any additional supporting evidence.
- Ask for review by Directors who did not make the original decision where reasonably possible.
- Use the complaints and dispute-resolution procedure if the matter remains unresolved.
